MacDella Cooper Born on march 13th, 1977, in Monrovia (Liberia) Ms. Cooper’s life was deeply impacted by the Liberian Civil War in the 1990s. As a refugee teen, she lived in exile in neighboring Côte d’Ivoire. In 1993, she migrated to the United States, and earned a degree in Communications at the College of New Jersey in Ewing. In 2004, Ms. Cooper embarked on a successful international career in fashion and planning. MacDella is warm, personable and has a common touch. She makes friends easily, spending most of the business life between New York City, Paris, London and Milan. With international connections, Mac has integrated and employed business, diplomatic, fashion and political worlds in support of her efforts in Liberia. Nonetheless, she remained determined to contribute to the welfare of the children of Liberia and her peoples suffering were always on her mind. That same year, she launched the MacDella Cooper Foundation (MCF), a non-profit charity dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty by providing orphaned and abandoned children with an education, a safe learning environment, food, shelter, clothing and access to healthcare. In 2010, the MacDella Cooper Foundation (MCF) Academy was founded. MCF Academy is a boarding school for approximately 200 orphans in Charlesville, Margibi County, Liberia. The academy is the country's first tuition-free boarding school. Prospectively, the academy, and the recently initiated MCF Agency for Youth Development, will foster future leaders who take pride in themselves and their country. MCF improves the lives of hundreds of Liberian women and children. But, Mac wants to do more in Liberia. MCF's success convinced her she could, and anyone can see the need for effective change in leadership and government in Liberia. Mac's commitment to Liberia is founded on the moral imperative to improve the quality of life for all Liberians. At best, basic social services remain well below pre-civil war levels. At worst, they don't exist. Most Liberian children survive on less than $1 per day. On October 17, 2016, MacDella Cooper publicly announced her candidacy for President of Liberia in the 2017 elections. Her announcement has been met with excitement and support from political leaders, civil society groups, universities and student activists. Women and tribal groups in Liberia and the diaspora have pledged support for her candidacy. The outpouring of support has been confirmation of Mac's decision to serve her country in this capacity. MacDella has outlined a focused plan to address the most pressing needs of the people of Liberia. Moreover, the people of Liberia want and need change from the status quo. Ms. Cooper offers a fresh perspective, world view and people centric plan to appropriately restore humanity to its Liberian people. Her candidate's program focuses on the 5 following highlights : Free education for every child, Universal healthcare for all, Electricity in every home, Decentralization, Land ownership.
