Le Taito Type X est un système de jeux vidéo pour borne d'arcade compatible JAMMA destiné aux salles d'arcade, créé par la société japonaise Taito en 2004. Le Taito Type X a connu beaucoup d'évolution de son matériel et plusieurs versions ont été commercialisées par Taito : Le Taito Type X+, le Taito Type X7, le Taito Type-X², le Taito Type X² Satellite Terminal, le Taito Type XZero, le Taito Type X³[1] et le Taito Type X4.

Description modifier

Le système d'arcade Taito Type X est construit selon l'architecture d'un ordinateur personnel. C'est un PC, dont on retrouve tous les éléments, qui va servir de base matérielle et faire fonctionner les jeux[2]. L'intérêt est bien sûr de réduire à la fois les coûts de développement du système, de production du matériel et de profiter d'outils déjà existant pour développer les jeux pour en réduire le coût (notamment Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 Professional en tant que plate-forme de développement). Le média choisit pour stocker les jeux est le disque dur. Le Taito Type X est très évolutif par sa conception et permet aux développeurs de faire progresser le système en fonction des jeux[3]. Il connaitra donc plusieurs révisions. Du Taito Type X jusqu'à la version Satellite Terminal, chaque révision reprend la même base que la précédente, en intégrant des composants plus puissants[4].

Le Taito Type X+ est un système Taito Type X avec des capacités graphiques plus importantes[5].

Le Taito Type X7 est une version encore améliorée du Taito Type X. Il accueille seulement des Pachinko et Pachisuro[6],[7].

Le Taito Type-X², nouvelle version du Taito Type X, sort en début d'année 2007. Il est construit avec des processeurs, des puces, des composants récents et plus puissants que le Taito Type X+[8],[9].

Le Taito Type X² Satellite Terminal, version connectable en réseau local a également été commercialisé par Taito. Ce système propose des composants et des capacités améliorées par rapport au Taito Type X², entre autres la carte réseau[10].

Le Taito Type XZero[11], troisième génération du Type-X, est présenté lors du salon AM Show 2010 au Japon[12], succédant ainsi au Type-X et au Type-X².

Le Taito Type X³[13],[14],[15] est une évolution du Taito Type X commercialisée dès 2012 pour succéder au Taito Type X²[16].

Le Taito Type X4 est une évolution du Taito Type X commercialisée dès 2016 pour succéder au Taito Type X³.

Système de protection modifier

La carte propriétaire d'entrées/sorties (I/O) au format JVS est la clé de tout le système, les jeux ne fonctionnent pas sans sa présence. Il ne s'agit pas d'une carte au format PCI, mais plutôt d'un adaptateur se connectant à un port COM sur la carte mère. Celle-ci se connecte également sur le panneau de contrôle de la carte mère ainsi que sur la carte son optique[17]. De plus, chaque jeu est fourni avec un dongle de sécurité au format USB permettant le démarrage du système, ainsi que le décryptage du disque dur.
