French Wikipedia moved to 4th place according to number of articles modifier

No problem : luckily, I can write both  . Thank you for this informations ; we have translate and add them on top of the page (in fact, the next publication is in few hours). It's a quite suprising news given the difference in number of speakers (30 against 900 millions!). Thank you again ! Romainhk (QTx10) 1 avril 2013 à 00:03 (CEST)Répondre

  • Thank you for translation! But isn't the figure of 900 million too high? In Francophonie I find: "Pour le français, on estime à 220 millions de francophones si l'on ne retient que ceux qui ont un bon niveau écrit et oral, mais à 900 millions si l'on prend en compte tous ceux qui ont un niveau élémentaire". So 220 million or so should be more adequate number for the number of people who can really contribute to the French Wikipedia, to my mind. — Ace111 (d) 1 avril 2013 à 00:19 (CEST)Répondre
You're right, but 30 millions is a wild estimate too : theres 17 millions dutchmen, some afrikaans, some speakers in belgium... it counts all level speakers too. If we limit to good dutch speakers, there only about 20 millions ; and because i haven't found the official figure for "dutchmen with good level" i used wildest figures :). (To compare what can be compared, its 900/30 or 220/~20.) Romainhk (QTx10) 1 avril 2013 à 11:28 (CEST)Répondre
