Innu Meshkenu is a walk undertaken by the first surgeon in Québec, Stanley Vollant.[1]'[2] This 6000 kilometers walk passes through all the aboriginal communities in the eastern Canada.[3] The walk started in 2010 and will last for five years.
Sometimes, Stanley Vollant walks alone, sometimes with other Aboriginal or non-Aboriginal walkers. [4]
The name "Innu Meshkenu" comes from innu language and means "The innu trail". [5]
The objectives of Innu Meshkenu
modifierInnu Meshkenu aims at raising Aboriginal populations' awareness concerning two main points : school perseverance and healthy life habbits. The project also attempts to enhance the Aboriginal cultural identity[5].
