English: Map of Wallis islands drawn by Samuel Wallis in 1773. Wallis visited Uvea in 1767 and named it Wallis island. The map is really inaccurate (compare with File:Wallis_(topographic-fr).svg).
It may be the first map of Wallis island. This map is from the book An account of the voyages undertaken by the order of His present Majesty for making discoveries in the Southern Hemisphere, and successively performed by Commodore Byron, Captain Wallis, Captain Carteret, and Captain Cook, in the Dolphin, the Swallow, and the Endeavor. Drawn up from the journals which were kept by the several commanders, and from the papers of Joseph Banks, Esq; by John Hawkesworth, LL.D. In three volumes. Illustrated with cuts, and a great variety of charts and maps relative to countries now first discovered, or hitherto but imperfectly known. London: printed for W. Strahan; and T. Cadell in the Strand, MDCCLXXIII.
Français : Carte des îles Wallis (Uvea) par Samuel Wallis, 1773. Le capitaine Wallis aborde Uvea en 1767 et lui donne son nom. La carte est erronée dans ses dimensions (comparer avec File:Wallis_(topographic-fr).svg), mais indique la présence du lagon et d'une passe à l'ouest, ainsi que plusieurs petits îlots au nord et au sud, d'où le nom d'îles Wallis au pluriel. Il s'agit peut-être de la première carte de l'île de Wallis.
