Senscritique is a French website created in 2011. It was founded by Clément Apap, Guillaume Boutin, and Kevin Kuipers. The site allows visitors to mark and comment cultural works from different fields: films, series, books, comic books, musical albums and tracks, video games. Clément Apap, one of the founder, said that the site was based on a "cultural word of mouth"[1].
History
modifierFollowing the sale of Gamekult in 2007, Kevin Kuipers, Guillaume Boutin et Clément Apap started working together on a new project of website, aimed at sharing opinions, critics, marks on different kinds of cultural works: films, series, books, comic books, musical albums and tracks, and video games.
The website opens in march, 2010, first in private beta and by invitation only[2], until december of the same year[3].
At the end of 2011, le website has 35.000 members, 200.000 critics and 6 millions of graded works[3]. In 2013, it has more than 400.000 critics, 18 millions of graded works and more than 110.000 lists[4]. At the end of 2014, it has 250.000 members, with more than half of this being registered in the same year[5].
In January 2015, the website, together with Allociné, Première and Télérama, is part of the four chosen platforms that the CNC chose to launch its search engine listing the VOD offers[6].
