Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard, connu depuis 2020 sous le nom raccourci de MWWB, est un groupe de doom metal britannique originaire de Wrexham, Pays de Galles fondé en 2014.
Histoire modifier
Paul Michael "Dave" Davies, Wez Leon et James "Carrat" Carrington évoluait au sein du groupe Mother of Six. Quand le groupe s'est séparé suite à l'incapacité du chanteur à continuer, ils ont proposé à Jessica Ball, qui avait alors son propre projet, Warsisters, de participer au leur[1]. Ils ont été rejoint par Stuart Sinclair qui jouait de la basse dans Stereo Virgin, groupe originaire de Liverppol[2]. Initialement quand le projet se forme, en 2014, il est sensé être instrumental[3]. Pensant que celui-ci ne serait pas un succès, les membres du groupe décident de lui donner le nom le plus "doom" possible[4].

I remember coming to band practice and the guys were saying what’re we going to call it, and we said Mammoth Weed Wizard and Carat our drummer said ah just put Bastard on the end, so I was like yeah whatever let’s do it haha. »

Le groupe sort rapidement un EP, Nachthexen, comprenant un seul morceau de 30 minutes[6]. Il paraît le 25 février 2015[7]. Il est suivi le 4 décembre par leur premier album, Noeth Ac Anoeth[8].
Un second opus, Y Proffwyd Dwyll, sort en 2016 chez New Heavy Sounds.
L'année suivante ils sortent un split avec Slomatics intitulé Totems chez Black Bow Records
recrutent Stuart Sinclair à la basse, Jessica s'occupant alors exclusivement du chant.
2019 : Yn Ol I Annwn.
Fin 2020, le groupe raccourcit son nom en MWWB[9].
En 2022, ils reviennent avec The Harvest, toujours signés chez New Heavy Sounds.
