Gilles Martin

Gilles Martin is a French artivist reporter/photographer, who was born on the 14th of May, 1956.

Biography

Spreaded in photo and press agencies, his photographs regularly appeared in magazines like GEO, Le Figaro Magazine, Terre sauvage, Life, National Geographic... He works for many years to create a project named "l'Arche photographique", that is to photograph all rare and endangered species of the IUCN Red List.

He presents his project on his website.

To bring a greater impact to his artivist photographer work, Gilles Martin creates events. He sets up performances and happenings like, for example, the happening named 2027 - Mémoires d’un dos argenté.^[1] ^[2] ^[3] ^[4]

1982 : Guilde Européenne du Raid award winner for an exploration journey to Aldabra Atoll.^[5]
1986 : Publication in L’Univers du Vivant.^[6]
1989 : Awarded first prize by the Dotation Kodak Grand Reportage for Expédition Thylacine
1992 : Featured in the prestigious Gamma photo agency
1993 : First USA press publications: Life, Time magazine, National Enquirer
