Mile 16 also known as Bolifamba is a locality in the Buea municipality of the Fako Division, South West Region of the Republic of Cameroon.
History
modifierMile 16 Bolifamba is a chiefdom in the Buea council area. Buea, also spelled Bouea, town located in southwestern Cameroon. It is situated at an elevation of 3,000 feet (900 metres) above sea level and is located on the southeast slope of Mount Cameroon.[1] Buea was the capital of German Kamerun from 1902 to 1916. Several historic sites of the early mission and colonial periods have been preserved, including the Prime Minister’s Lodge (1902), the old Secretariat, the Bismarck Fountain, the Native Authority School (1902–04), and the German Burial Ground (1911). In 1922 Buea became the seat of the British commissioner for Southern Cameroons.[2]
Geography
modifierMile 16 is located at the foot of the active volcanic Mount Cameroon which rises to the highest elevation in western Africa—13,435 feet (4,095 metres).[2]
