Located at the Historische Friedhof in Weimar, destroyed by the Nazis in 1936 and recreated after 1945. The inscription at the base reads den Maerzgefallenen 1920, to the March dead of 1920, referring to those workers killed in the [#//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kapp_Putsch Kapp putsch] in the turmoil in Germany in the aftermath of World War I , a coup attempt to overthrow the so-called Weimar Republic for it was here in Weimar that the assembly met to forge the constitution of the new liberal democracy. The Kapp putsch occurred in Berlin on 13 March 1920, and installed Wolfgang Kapp as Chancellor, but the uprising only lasted 4 days. The memorial was commissioned by the Weimar Gewerkschaftskartell which might be translated as the local trades council.
