Length: 1.9mm
Keyed using the recent UK Field Studies Council key as follows:
Abdomen divided down middle
NOT pale tiny species with circular depression in cephalothorax
Apparently blind
Body setae NOT pointed but with club-like tips
Dull brown, with trichobothria at end of abdomen
Trichobothrium on fourth tarsus
NOT a large species (much less than 3mm long)
Trichobothrium in middle of fourth tarsus
Keyed following Legg and Jones in Synopses of the British Fauna as follows:
1: Tergites divided - MONOSPHYRONIDA --> 12
12: Larger, more elongated species, cephalothorax without posterior circular depression --> 13
13: Eyes absent or indistinct - CHERNETIDAE --> 14
14: Tibia IV with tactile seta --> 15
15: Second groove of cephalothorax well-defined: body and pedipalpal setae short, clavate and dentate --> 18
18: Cephalothorax tubercles small; posterior end of opisthosoma carrying 1+2 trichobothria on tergite and sternite XI respectively - Pselaphochernes --> 19
19: Trichobothriumon sternite XI equal to length of outer pair of trichobothria on sternite XI, inner tergite pair being shorter: trichobothrium present in middle of tarsus IV - Pselaphochernes scorpioides
