English: Photo taken at the Lofoten War Memorial Museum (Norwegian: Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum) in Svolvær, Norway's largest exhibition of uniforms and smaller items related to the Second World War and the German occupation of Norway 1940 – 1945:
  • Accessories etc. of the Marine-Küstenpolizei (MKP), the naval coastal police of the navy of Nazi Germany (Kriegsmarine) established in 1940:
    • Gorget (German: Ringkragen, Brustschild) of the MKP feldgendarmerie.net: When on duty, a special gorget was worn, the same shape as the army Felgendarmerie gorget but smaller, with the legend Marine-Küsten-Polizei in the centre and a naval button in each corner. The shield had a silver grey painted finish with the lettering and buttons finished with a luminous greenish-yellow paint. The reverse had a hinged horizontal pin fitting allowing the gorget to be pinned to the jacket, just below the breast eagle (Brustadler).
    • Cuff title/cuffband (Ärmelstreife) with the legend Marine-Küstenpolizei in golden-yellow thread on a dark blue backing, for left sleeve on the naval uniform of the MKP personnel
    • Kriegsmarine pennant (Wimpel, Kommandozeichen) with "eagle atop swastika|" (German: Reichsadler, Hoheitsadler, Hakenkreuzadler, Wehrmachtsadler), the formal symbol of the Nazi Party as well as the Third Reich (Nazi Germany) and its military forces
    • German WWII camera (Kamera) with Leitz Elmar lens 1:1,35 50mm and marked with the text Kriegsmarine, the eagle-and-swastika and other emblems
    • Shoulder board (Schulterstücke) with braided rank insignia
feldgendarmerie.net: The Marineküstenpolizei (MKP) was formed in 1940 with a draft of personnel from the Wasserschutzpolizei (WSP, river police and coast guard), much in the same way as the Feldgendarmerie was originally formed with drafts of personnel from the civil Gendarmerie. The subjugation of a number of countries (Norway, France etc) with extensive coastlines meant that a naval equivalent of the military police would be needed.
