Susan Devoy devient la première joueuse néo-zélandaise à remporter le British Open^[1] en s'imposant face à Lisa Opie, déjà double finaliste malheureuse.

La finale disputée devant 3 000 personnes au Wembley Squash Centre est reconnue comme « le meilleur match de squash féminin jamais vu » d'après Squash Player Magazine^[2].
