Bernard Moteurs modifier

Bonjour Iluvalar,

Sorry: the question is this. When you translate an article from English to French, in particular a Featured or Good article, do you FAVOR subjects that are more notable? (e.g. an animal, a species, an importan bio...versus a train station or a hurricane)? Knowing this would help better make the case that these notable articles are important at Wiki, not only for the general Anglo readership (a powerful numeric case can be made) but ALSO for other languages. I am in mind of user Garrondo at en-Wiki who has written 4 FAs, one per year, each on 100,000+ articles like Parkinson's disease and the like. TCO (d) 25 janvier 2012 à 00:53 (CET)

Most of the time the translated articles are choosen on the basis of the interest of either the translator or the requester. Alternatively , you can find here a project dedicated to follow the featured articles from other languages, giving idea of articles to translate.--Chandres () 25 janvier 2012 à 09:15 (CET)

question about a page modifier

Hi !

I'm new to wikipedia as an editor. I want to know what to do with a page about a photographer which is fake in 90%. In fact, most of the exhibitions and publications quoted in the page are false, not the history of the photographer himself. I already tried to modify that and also asked for sources, but someone some days after had rewrite all the previous sentences and false facts. Now there are some links to "prove" the false facts but all the links are simply redirecting to the photographer own pages, without anymore true proofs. So, what can I do to modify the page and ask for real facts ?

Thanks in advance !

Hello. We need to know which article is concerned before taking a decision. Which photographer are you talking about? A link? Thanks, --Floflo (d) 4 février 2012 à 18:07 (CET)

Hi! I'm speaking of this page : http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nath-Sakura where many exhibitions are not proven

Ok, thanks. As I do not have the required skills to do anything myself on this article, I have translated your message on the associated talk page. As I also wrote there: I still remain in the debate to translate the possible answers if they're in French. Hoping that someone will be able to help. Greetings, --Floflo (d) 6 février 2012 à 22:27 (CET)
There is a serious doubt, indeed. The only catalan news found (in El pais) was written in december 2005 (I don't speak catalan, so I can't understand if they wrote about a past or present event). The point is that it's the only one, one year after. And the picture supposed to be shown in 2004 (on wikipedia) and bought by the museum, is announced to have been taken in 2005. And the Museum has no kwowledge about her name. I ask for a deletion, it may be help. Yours, Deuxtroy (d) 1 avril 2012 à 07:19 (CEST)

Fichier:Plongeur bouteilles.jpg modifier

Can I have an administrator look at Fichier:Plongeur bouteilles.jpg and tell me its source and author? Currently File:Scuba diver1.jpg on Commons is listed as a derivative image for it, but we don't know about the original. Magog the Ogre (d) 4 mars 2012 à 21:16 (CET)

Hi,
This image was initially downloaded by Ske (d · c · b) and labelled as issued from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration at this website.-- LPLT [discu] 4 mars 2012 à 22:20 (CET)
Can you post the exact text of the page as he uploaded it? I'd appreciate it; thanks. Magog the Ogre (d) 14 avril 2012 à 09:22 (CEST)

Apologies for only posting in English. The deployment team here at Wikimedia Foundation has decided to shift the deployment time of MediaWiki 1.20wmf6 from it's usual time on Wednesday, July 4 to an earlier time on Monday, July 2, due to the upcoming U.S. holiday. search of a french book modifier

About 30 years ago I was very impressed by a book which I read in French. I would like to read it again, but unfortanately I don't remember neither the title nor the author. The book, written by an author of African origin, but of French culture, was about the pre-colonial history of his original country, somewhere in sub-saharian Africa. He had recovered part of his history from oral sources and the narrative was full of episodes of unusual violence. Can anybody help me to identify the book?

Merci bien

Hi,
I forward this question to the Oracle, which is I think the best here to answer this kind of question. You may follow the answers by clicking here, I think it'll be in French. Regards, --Floflo (d) 11 novembre 2012 à 19:39 (CET)

Hi friends! see this pic. 212.143.134.129 (d) 20 novembre 2012 à 10:00 (CET)

This picture is likely to be used here in propaganda purpose. For bombing purpose, French air force only engaged jet fighters (including fighter bombers). An aircraft carrier ship from the French naval force was engaged too, and I'm unsure about if it could at this time still cary propeller bomber, but anyway the actual plane depicted here is almost certainly a scout plane. The french naval force used to be state of the art at this time, which implies jet planes, used as example for wild wessel missions as I found reference to.

A plane such as the one depicted just CANNOT be a bomber in French oversea deployment force by the standards of the mid-50's. It's design, for this era, absolutely tells, admiting it is French, that it is a Broussard-like plane used then, as examples, for scouting, air-ground infantry support help by reporting the effects of the actual fighter planes, things like this. I posted another update on the case on Commons talk page for this picture Shangri-l (d) 23 décembre 2012 à 23:06 (CET)

Use of picture from Wikimedia Commons modifier

Please have a look at the article Ouette de l'Orénoque, the history page, and the attribution requirement for the picture used. As I understand, you do not accept attribution of photographers in this project. By now, there are other and better pictures of this species available at Wikimedia Commons. Please use another picture if you cannot accept CC BY-SA attribution conditions. Thank you! --Roarjo (d) 9 décembre 2012 à 16:28 (CET)

Sure we accept CC-By-SA! But you want more, you want attribution by your name on the Wikipedia page (as on wp:nn). Accepted rules on Commons are that a credit by the picture page is ok.
About me, the problem doesn't comes from wp:fr.
Roarjo gives some of his pictures on Commons with a "special" licence, not only CC-B-SA, but he wants a citation more than allowed for all files from Commons, he want his name on the description in the Wikipedia article: for me it's a restriction from the normal CC-By-SA, no free enought to stay on Commons (if the ask is writen on the page description). I know it's a normal way to credit authors on wp:nn, but accepted rules on Commons are that a credit by the picture page is ok.
I ask for that some of his picture in DR; the community want to keep them, ok, but Roarjo have to accept rules of Commons. More, he have to accept removal of watermarks of his pictures, according rules of Commons. --MGuf (d) 9 décembre 2012 à 17:57 (CET)
