I am at Dockweiler State Beach, at the west end of LAX. I am picnicking with friends and taking lots of photos - and some of them happen to be aviation photos. Reportedly this is what all United 757s will look like in the near future: the Continental Disco Ball livery and addition of winglets. Currently, most legacy United 757s do not have winglets. This one gained winglets only very recently, based on information out there (FlyerGuide.com's Wiki does not show this aircraft as winglet-equipped, yet). Continental's 757 fleet already has the new United titles and winglets across the board. The easiest way to distinguish a legacy United 757 from a Continental 757 is by engine type. United specified Pratt & Whitney PW2000-series with cone-shaped exhaust (as seen here) for its 757 fleet, whereas Continental specified the Rolls-Royce RB211-series with more cylindrical exhaust. Tail number is another giveaway; United tail numbers end with UA (and for 757s, uses the format N5xxUA) while Continental tail numbers are five numerical digits after N (the third numeric digit is 1 for the 757-200, 8 for the 757-300).
