In the foreground there is the latar and behind to the right, in profile, the solemn figure of a priest with a flowing beard who immerses his lowered hands in a large sacrificial basin held for him right by a young servant who also raises the large sacrificial plate in his left hand. To the right of the altar a thin tree with leafless branches; in the background a votive tripod is set on a doric column. To the right of the scene, two thin doric columns surmounted by an architrave indicate the Temple of Apollo: the god, adorned with laurel leaves, is represented seated on a throne with his right arm bent to hold a long but thin branch of laurel (his symbol). The heads of the other figures are also adorned with laurel leaves.
