Brian Mulroney est Premier ministre durant la majeure partie de la 34^e législature, avant d'être remplacé par Kim Campbell.

Elle est dominée par le Parti progressiste-conservateur du Canada, d'abord sous le Premier ministre Brian Mulroney, puis par Kim Campbell. Le Parti libéral du Canada forme l'opposition officielle, dirigée par John Turner, puis par Jean Chrétien. Le président de la Chambre est John Allen Fraser.
