Terminology of the Armenian Genocide in French? modifier

Hi! In en:Terminology of the Armenian Genocide info is collected on the exact terminology of the Armenian Genocide used in each language. Have French journals documented what it is called in French? This is important as French was the lingua franca among Western foreigners, Christians, and Jewish people in the late Ottoman Empire.

New Vector skin modifier

French Wikipedia is among few projects which use the new Vector skin. I would like to know if the French Wikipedia has changed its logo since the introduction of the Vector skin. For example, did frwiki change its logo for the 20th birthday of Wikipedia? If so, how did you do that? I need to do that for fawiki, but I don't know how. Please ping me when responding, Thanks 4nn1l2 (discuter) 15 mars 2021 à 09:29 (CET)

UCoC related survey modifier

Please excuse me for writing to you in English.

To better understand the perspectives of individuals in the Wikimedia community who have experienced harassment, Wikimedia Foundation is doing a survey about our community members’ knowledge of, and comfort with, existing enforcement and reporting processes. This survey is open to anyone on our projects regardless of their knowledge of our reporting and enforcement systems. The aim is to provide a public report for review by the incoming joint volunteer-staff Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) drafting committee working on the code’s enforcement outline. Unfortunately we are only able to provide it in three languages: English, Spanish and Hindi.

This survey is hosted on Qualtrics using an anonymous link, and will not collect IP addresses, location information, name or other contact information. The survey should take around 5 - 10 minutes to complete.

If you want to participate or if you have any questions, please contact the Wikimedia Community Health Working Group, communityhealthwg@wikimedia.org. Thank you for your time and feedback! --CSteigenberger (WMF) (discuter) 14 avril 2021 à 11:52 (CEST)

Sorry for my bad english but can you guys check this guy out user:Enilseine.Depiste not vietnamese or someone who know about vietnamese culture(from my observation), they currently edit alot of vietnamese arcites, especially vietnamese cusine and most of them are vandalism. I don't think they know how to create an articles so instead of creating new article about cambodian dish, they overwrite it to vietnamese articles(For example bò bún,nước chấm to name a few), the cambodian dish they overwrite are completely different from the one in the artcile which lead to confusion. I don't think their contribute to french wikipedia is in good faith.--Bingo1710 (discuter) 11 mai 2021 à 06:16 (CEST)

@Bingo1710 Thank you for your message, I translated it in French. -- Okhjon (discuter) 11 mai 2021 à 08:07 (CEST)
@Bingo1710 Thanks for the warning, but the guy says he is part khmer, which is part of the Vietnamese/ex-Siam people and his modification haven't been reverted despite your message, its translation and the 4 hours since it. Despite my low knowledge of the region and its culinar traditions, the commits he did seem valid to me. The account is nearly 1 year old and is active, so if he was vandalizing, he would have triggered patrollers way before. In my view, he is not a vandal. Help with a hoax article modifier

Bonjour! :) I've discovered that an article that has been deleted for being a hoax on the English Wikipedia still exists on the French Wikipedia. The article in question is Christopher Hamilton. See en:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christopher Hamilton. Wizzito (discuter) 22 mai 2021 à 19:07 (CEST)

Hello   Wizzito, thank you for the notice; I mentioned the issue on the article’s discussion page. -- Okhjon (discuter) 22 mai 2021 à 19:43 (CEST)
Okhjon, is there any way that you could nominate the article for deletion instead, or find a way to get the attention of an administrator? I don't think enough people will notice a message on a talk page. Wizzito (discuter) 22 mai 2021 à 19:47 (CEST)
Wizzito Bertrand Labévue (an administrator) was faster and speed-deleted the page. Okhjon (discuter) 22 mai 2021 à 22:55 (CEST)
Hello, thanks for the speedy deletion! However, the wikidata element still lives on. How can it be deleted? https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5112470 Skimel (discuter) 22 mai 2021 à 23:59 (CEST)

Archives nationales d'outre-mer modifier

Bonjour, I am looking for help in contacting the National Archives of the Overseas. I haven't received a reply from them (likely because my letters addressing them were Anglophone) and if someone already has a contact there that would be handy. As I need a specific French colonial document from the 18th (eighteenth) century that I cannot find online. --Donald Trung (discuter) 5 juillet 2021 à 21:00 (CEST)

PD-old template modifier

Do you have PD-old and PD-US-expired templates? I can't find frwiki on d:Q6535634 and d:Q23035016. I want to add w:en:File:Jane Margyl, Samson et Dalila flyer.jpg to Jane Margyl. Alexis Jazz (discuter) 8 juillet 2021 à 17:35 (CEST)

Hi @Alexis Jazz, there's no need for these templates here since PD documents should be uploaded to Commons and you already uploaded the file before this message (I don't understand why you wrote it, in fact). It was added to the Jane Margyl some time later. All the best — Baidax 💬 19 août 2021 à 18:41 (CEST)
@Baidax, I had uploaded it to enwiki but the file was moved to Commons after I asked the above question. Uploading to Commons isn't an option when one has been blocked under dubious circumstances. And since I still don't know exactly why I deserved to be indeffed (no block reason was ever officially communicated to me), I could be reblocked at any moment so I'd prefer to stick with local uploads for now. Alexis Jazz (discuter) 19 août 2021 à 19:08 (CEST)
@Alexis Jazz, understood. However, what you're talking about is a personal issue and this way of doing things can hinder the good coordination between the contributors. It would be better then to upload to enwiki and then ask someone else to do the transfer to Commons instead of adding files locally on each language version of WP. — Baidax 💬 19 août 2021 à 19:23 (CEST)
@Baidax If I had asked people to transfer my files I'd be asking them to proxy for me which would put their accounts at risk. Alexis Jazz (discuter) 19 août 2021 à 19:29 (CEST)
@Alexis Jazz If you mention the situation to whoever you ask, I hope that the other contributors would be quite aware of what they would be doing and that the administrators would check what has been transferred. Your way of uploading only increases the unpleasant tasks to other contributors. — Baidax 💬 19 août 2021 à 19:53 (CEST)
@Baidax that's just not how it works. My block was unrelated to my uploads, checking them would be pointless. Asking someone else to edit or upload for me would be proxying and that's very simply not allowed. People can upload files or copy things that are said by a blocked user to Commons, but always of their own accord and initiative. One admin declared me banned (despite Commons not having any banning policy) while other admins resigned or retired over the enormous mess of my controversial block. Really, if things were simple I'd have figured it out myself. Alexis Jazz (discuter) 19 août 2021 à 20:12 (CEST)

Changes to Base Léonore modifier

Bonjour, sorry for posting in English but my French isn't up to writing about such technical subjects.

I've recently discovered that the Base Léonore website has been redesigned, with the result that URLs generated by template:Base Léonore no longer work. They have also changed the format of some of the the cotes used to identify people on the site, for example changing LH/1924/18 to LH//1924/18 (note the extra slash) and failing to find anything if you search for the old code. However, since there now doesn't seem to be any way to construct a URL from a cote, this is a secondary consideration.

I've made changes to the English Base Léonore template that you might like to echo. Alternatively, somebody here might have the necessary contacts to get a suitable URL mechanism added to the site. They use wikidata on their site now, so they might be open to doing something in return. Merci bien!

[added] I've just found this discussion on the matter on wikidata: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Topic:Wbisfmslwlmzba5u

Régime de Vichy; Marcel Dalio; propaganda posters; modifier

Régime de Vichy used Marcel Dalio's image to depict the stereotypical Jew on propaganda posters. Where are the posters?

Why Crash de l'A320 de Germanwings instead of " Vol Germanwings 9525"? modifier

I understand, of course, that the common name for many aviation disasters is different from the flight number. But I am quite surprised to see this crash referred to in this manner. In French-language media, is this the common nomenclature over using the flight number? Thanks in advance. MSG17 (discuter) 10 novembre 2021 à 14:40 (CET)

Hello, the article has been renamed several times : Vol 9525 Germanwings - Écrasement du vol Germanwings 9525 - Crash de la Germanwings - Écrasement du Vol Germanwings 9525 - Crash de la Germanwings (translation => Germanwings Flight 9525 - Crash of Germanwings Flight 9525 - Crash of Germanwings Flight 9525 - Crash of Germanwings).
