Les Romeriida forment un clade de sauropsides eureptiliens qui contient les diapsides, les protorothyrididés et quelque genre basals apparentés aujourd'hui éteints. Il est défini phylogénétiquement par Laurin & Reisz en 1995 comme « le dernier ancêtre commun de Paleothyris et des diapsides, et de tous ses descendants »^[1]. Il porte le nom d'Alfred Romer, un éminent paléontologue du XX^e siècle^[2].
