| Description |
English: This monument was dedicated in 1928 by the members of the Saranac Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. It commemorates Benedict Arnold's Battle of Valcour, which, on October 11, 1776, delayed the British from sailing up Lake Champlain. They returned to Ile aux Noix in Quebec for the winter. The next spring only to be defeated at Saratoga where the Patriots were waiting for them. The picture shows the monument in the Town of Peru on the New York mainland and Valcour Island in the background. The monument will soon be moved about a mile north for the monument's safety because the shoreline behind it has eroded. |

Every year the Saranac Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in conjunction with the Valcour Battle Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, commemorate Benedict Arnold's Battle of Valcour on October 11th in a ceremony at Clinton Community College on a bluff on the shores of Lake Champlain overlooking the battle site.
