Double or Nothing (2019) est un événement de catch (lutte professionnelle) produit par la promotion américaine All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Il s'agit de l'événement inaugural de la compagnie. Il s'est déroulé le à la MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Contexte modifier
Après le succès de l'événement All In[2], Les têtes pensantes derrière l'événement, un groupe connu sous le nom de The Elite (Cody, The Young Bucks et Kenny Omega) a profité de la réaction positive suscitée par le précédent événement pour organiser d'autres événements avec le soutien de Shahid Khan et Tony Khan[3],[4],[5]. Le , plusieurs marques déposées à Jacksonville, en Floride, indiquant l'événement. Les noms déposés pour la marque incluent: All Elite Wrestling, AEW All Out, All Out, AEW, Double or Nothing, Tuesday Night Dynamite, AEW Double or Nothing et plusieurs logos[6],[7],[8]. Le , All Elite Wrestling a été officiellement annoncé, de même que le premier événement Double or Nothing, l'événement inaugural d'AEW et la suite de All In[9],[10],[11]. Lors du rassemblement à Las Vegas, Brandi Rhodes a annoncé la signature des lutteuses japonaises Aja Kong et Yuka Sakazaki. Cependant, elles ne pouvaient pas être au rassemblement et seront prêtes à faire leur première apparition pour AEW à Double or Nothing[12]
Storylines modifier
Double or Nothing comprendra des matchs de lutte professionnels impliquant différents lutteurs issus de feud et de storylines. Les lutteurs décrivent des méchants, des héros ou des personnages moins distinguables dans les événements scriptés qui créent une tension et aboutissent à un match de lutte ou à une série de matches[13].
Lors du premier rassemblement de l'AEW à Jacksonville, Adam Page a été interrompu par PAC, pour mettre en place une rivalité entre Pac et Page[14],[15]. Lors du deuxième rassemblement à Las Vegas, Pac vs. Page a été officiellement annoncé pour Double or Nothing[16].
SoCal Uncensored vs Cima d’Oriental Wrestling Entertainment et deux partenaires non annoncés ont également été annoncés pour Double or Nothing après que SCU a défié Cima de faire correspondre ses partenaires à ceux de ses choix[17],[18].
Le , après que Kenny Omega a battu Pentagón Jr., il a été attaqué par Chris Jericho, qui était déguisé en Pentagón à All In[19]. Quelques mois plus tard, Omega et Jericho ont tous deux signé un contrat avec l'AEW [20],[21] et, après l'annonce par Omega qu'il avait signé avec la promotion, il a été confronté par Jericho et une bagarre a commencé. Les deux ont été séparés par Cody, Christopher Daniels et la sécurité. Leur match a ensuite été annoncé pour Double or Nothing[12].
Le , une vidéo est apparue sur la chaine de The Nightmare Family, dans la série des "Road To Double Or Nothing"[22] Dans cette vidéo, Dustin Rhodes propose un match contre son frère, Cody. Ce match a été confirmé par la suite sur les réseaux sociaux de All Elite Wrestling.
