I am a friend of Mr.Tichy. I had spent a lot of time talking with him and walking Kyjov streets in the late sixties and seventies. As far as I know, Mr.Tichy did not spend any time in a communist prison camp or jail. While he hated the regime in the communist Czechoslovakia, he had never fought against it politically. I would say, he protested by his appearance: he did not wash, shave, cut his hair or change his clothes. Most people in Kyjov did not like his looks and they considered him an eyesore of their town. Communist police used to send him to an asylum for the time of various holidays, e.g. 1st May, Bolshevik Revolution Anniversary, etc. or for the duration of the town festivals.
